Route 93 Welcomes New Innovation Manager and Launches New Networking Events
September marks a time of exciting new beginnings at Route 93, with the arrival of our Innovation Manager, Kim Masin, and the launch of our Thirsty Thursday Networking and Connecting events. Both initiatives reflect Route 93’s ongoing commitment to supporting entrepreneurs, fostering innovation, and building strong local business connections.
With an impressive career spanning over two decades, Kim brings a wealth of experience in business development, marketing, event management, and start-up strategy. From launching grassroots start-ups to scaling multimillion-dollar companies with international reach, Kim is driven by a passion for empowering others and helping businesses—both large and small—reach their full potential.
“Sometimes a fresh perspective can make the biggest impact,” Kim says, reflecting on her approach to innovation and leadership. “I’m excited to sit down with people and just talk, figure out next steps, what’s working and what is not. Communication is the key to great collaborations and success. I can’t wait to pair up mentors and mentees. I wish I had that starting my first business.”
Kim is no stranger to the Midland and Simcoe County business communities. She made her initial mark in 2002 as the Owner and Founder of The Library Restaurant on Hugel Avenue, where she and her chef husband, Ivars Rasa, championed the use of local farm-to-table ingredients. This initiative not only elevated local dining but also cultivated long-standing relationships with farmers across the region.
Her commitment to community innovation continued as she helped lay the foundation for the Midland Cultural Centre (MCC), playing a pivotal role during its construction and early operations. The MCC has since become a cornerstone for arts, entertainment, and cultural events in Midland.
Kim further extended her impact in the agricultural sector as the Manager of the Simcoe County Farm Fresh Marketing Association, where she led the award-winning Savour Simcoe tasting event. She also helped member farms leverage social media to grow awareness and build stronger market connections.
Now at Route 93, Kim is eager to share her extensive experience with innovators and entrepreneurs. Her leadership is set to elevate and assist Route 93’s mission and programs—including the timely launch of Thirsty Thursday, a new monthly networking event designed to spark conversations, connections, and collaborations among local professionals.
“I am grateful to have this opportunity to work with Nicole French, Fractional Executive Director, to foster economic growth in our communities. Together we can do great things.”
