Board of Directors
The Board makes policy and planning decisions to advance the Vision, Mission and Objectives of Route 93 with respect to the economic health and prosperity of the community, and is responsible to assist in effective governance of the organization.
A Board Director is expected to be fully informed on organizational matters and engage in the Board’s deliberations and decisions on matters of policy, finance, programs, advocacy and personnel.

Board Member Roles and Responsibilities
- Commit to and be an enthusiastic champion of the Vision, Mission and Objectives of Route 93;
- Consider and make decisions on matters of policy, and recommendations received from other Board Directors, standing committees and staff;
- Review applicable Bylaws and policies, ensure compliance with these governing documents, and recommend changes as appropriate;
- Approve, oversee and monitor the annual work plan and operating budget;
- Review Board structure, recommend and approve changes, when necessary;
- Approve the hiring and release of the Executive Director, and other staff as necessary;
- Participate in annual evaluation of staff;
- Assist in developing and maintaining positive relationships with fellow Board and committee members, with Route 93 staff, the Municipalities, and with the community in order to enhance the Mission of Route 93;
- Attend and participate in Board meetings (approximately 10 times annually), preferably in person, or when necessary, by conference call;
- Attend and participate in the Annual General Meeting held in May;
- Be willing to assist on specialized committees, which could include attending additional meetings and other time expenditures outside of Board meetings;
- Support special events and attend Council meetings, when called upon.
